From living rooms and condo function rooms, Filipino families are taking celebrations into their own hands, creating memorable experiences wherever they gather, with technology making it easier to bring everything to life.
There was a time when a major Filipino celebration meant months of planning, a hired coordinator and a rented ballroom large enough for several generations of relatives. Today, more families are choosing to manage celebrations themselves, drawing inspiration from social media, online shopping platforms and creative ideas they can recreate at home or in indoor venues.
A living room can become the setting for an intimate birthday. A condo function room can host a children’s party. Simple decorations, personalised details and thoughtfully planned activities can give an occasion as much character as a professionally styled event.
Technology has become part of that shift. The Epson CO-FH02 Smart Projector, a compact Full HD projector, can bring a large-screen experience into homes, function rooms, and other enclosed gathering spaces without requiring an elaborate audiovisual setup. It can be used across different occasions throughout the year, making it a practical addition to the home as well as an event tool.
When the Screen Becomes Part of the Celebration
At weddings, debuts and milestone birthdays, some of the moments people remember most happen when everyone turns toward the screen.
It could be a Same Day Edit shown minutes after the ceremony, a childhood montage that gets the room laughing, or messages from friends and relatives who could not make it in person. These are often the moments that make a celebration feel personal.
And they do not necessarily require a ballroom or a full technical crew. In a function room or a smaller event venue, families can use the CO-FH02 to project videos, photographs and presentations on a larger surface.
Guests can share photos during the event, creating a live collection of moments from different perspectives. Relatives who cannot attend in person can join through video calls. Once the formal program ends, the same setup can shift easily to karaoke, party games or a playlist that keeps the celebration going.
Turning a Party Into a Playground
For children’s parties, keeping everyone entertained can be half the challenge. A projector gives families one more way to turn an ordinary function room or living space into something much bigger.
Connect a gaming console and a blank wall can become a larger-than-life gaming screen for Mario Kart, Just Dance or other multiplayer favorites. Instead of gathering around a television or passing around a handheld device, children, cousins and friends can all become part of the same game.
Giving Christmas Nights a Bigger Screen
Few occasions bring as many family members into one place as Christmas. Once everyone is home, the living room or dining area can quickly become the center of the celebration.
A blank wall can turn into a screen for Christmas films, old family videos or a playlist everyone knows by heart. Families can organize movie nights throughout December, project a festive scene during dinner, or bring lyrics onto the wall for an impromptu sing-along.
For families with loved ones overseas, the screen can serve another purpose. Projecting a video call at a larger scale allows more people around the table to see, hear and interact with someone who cannot be there in person, making them feel more present in the celebration.
Bringing the Big Screen Into Shared Spaces
Celebrations do not always have to stay in the living room. Condo function rooms, small clubhouses, and other indoor shared spaces can become gathering places for movie nights, game days and casual get-togethers.
At 2.6 kilograms, the CO-FH02 can be moved. A family movie can become a group screening. A major sporting event can turn into a lively watch party. A casual gathering can suddenly have its own centrepiece.
Instead of everyone looking down at separate devices, the larger screen gives the group something to watch, react to and enjoy at the same time.
What Makes the Bigger Screen Possible
Behind all these different setups is a projector designed to move easily between everyday home use and family celebrations.
The CO-FH02 delivers 3,000 lumens of color and white brightness through Epson’s 3LCD technology, helping maintain image visibility across different lighting conditions. Full HD 1080p resolution allows content to be projected at sizes of up to 391 inches, depending on the available space and projection distance.
The projector comes with an Android TV dongle and supports Chromecast and Bluetooth audio, making it possible to stream entertainment, cast compatible content and connect external audio equipment without building an elaborate setup around it.
At 2.6 kilograms, it can move from the living room to a function room or other suitable indoor setting, giving families more ways to use it long after one occasion ends.
One Setup, Many Reasons to Gather
DIY celebrations are not necessarily about doing less. For many families, they are about deciding for themselves what will make an occasion memorable.
That could mean putting together a birthday montage that has everyone laughing, turning a wall into a gaming screen, bringing an overseas relative into Christmas dinner or organizing a family movie night at home.
Unlike decorations and other event materials that disappear once the party is over, a projector can come back out for the next birthday, holiday, game night or family gathering.
As more families create celebrations around the spaces available to them, technology can help those spaces do more. Sometimes, all it takes to make a familiar room feel completely different is giving everyone something bigger to gather around.
The Epson CO-FH02 is available in the Philippines through Shopee, Lazada, TikTok Shop and authorized Epson dealers.
