With the surging artificial intelligence (AI) adoption and rising cybersecurity risks, Palo Alto Networks, the global cybersecurity leader, hosted its flagship event, Ignite on Tour Philippines 2025, at New World Makati in Manila, bringing together government leaders, industry experts, and innovators to discuss the future of AI and cybersecurity in the Philippines.
Palo Alto Networks’ latest State of Generative AI report revealed an 890% surge in AI traffic over the past year, showing unprecedented gains in efficiency and innovation. However, this rapid adoption has also resulted in a twofold increase in data loss prevention incidents.
In his keynote address, Simon Green, President of Asia-Pacific and Japan at Palo Alto Networks, said: “While the enthusiasm in adopting AI for productivity is incredible, security is lagging behind. This has led to adversaries being more empowered than ever before. This means cyber risks are not only growing but evolving at a pace that’s difficult to keep up with. The truth is, the only real defense against a bad guy with AI is a good guy with AI. Organizations here must make sure they’re equipping themselves with AI-powered security that can anticipate, adapt, and respond faster than the threats.”

The Philippines is positioning itself as a regional hub for cyber innovation, investing in AI to drive a market projected to reach $3.5 billion by 2030. With forecasts showing that 90% of online content is expected to be generated from AI by 2026, the Philippines’ early adoption of AI for productivity and efficiency underscores its potential to lead in the region.
Although fast-paced adoption of AI fuels new risks such as vulnerable high-risk models and jailbreak attacks, Simon stated that: “While no industry is immune and critical infrastructure is highly vulnerable, we already have the tools, intelligence, and partnerships to fight back. While threats may also be growing in scale and sophistication, these are also times of great optimism as AI-driven solutions allow us to outsmart AI-powered threats with AI itself.
